New for 2008: Door Prize: After each race there will be an additional pair of shoes given by random drawing. Winner needs to be present to collect. No duplicates please.

4/20/2008 Ault Park Switchback

Even though Ault Park is one of the most frequently used parks in Cincinnati, its intricate network of trails is one of the City's best kept secrets. The Ault Park Switchback will start with a short loop around the soccer field, near the pavilion, before entering the woods. Once on the trail, runners will enjoy a rolling route, going down by the old railroad tressel, and even spending some time on the old pioneer road from the late 1700's. Networking through Ault's web of trails, the 3.6 mile course will come back up to the pavillion and then finish back at the soccer field.

5/18/2008 Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run

Mt. Airy Forest is, in fact, the largest park located within a city's limits in the country. Even Central Park can only boast 843 acres, while Mt. Airy holds a massive 1,469.9 acres. This will be Dirt Days longest race at 5.4 miles. The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run is aptly named, as the runners will get a wilderness experience that mirrors the Sierras at times. The course winds through all of the features Mt. Airy has to offer, such as its lush evergreens, dense harwoods, open meadows, flowing rivers, and of course, hill climbs and ridge traverses. 6/08/2008 French Park Creek Crossings

French Park originally started out in its entirety as a farm, is now one of the city's most picturesque parks. The 3.4 mile course will take runners through almost everything that the park has to offer. Starting at the top of the hill, runners will descend down into the meadow, through the tall grass, and then run the perimeter before heading into the interior of the park. The course will follow the creek and cross it several times, giving runners the option to either tiptoe over stepping stones, use log bridges, or dash directly through it. The course will then gradually rise back to the shelter and meadow where it began.

7/20/2008 East Fork Backpack Trail Run

The East Fork Backpack Trail Run is where the series all began. This classic race will remain relatively unchanged, and serve as the series' cumulative championship. The unique aspect of this race is the handicapped start. All runners of the East Fork Backpack Trail Run will receive a handicap based on Age, Sex, and previous performance in the series. The object is that everyone will have an equal chance at finishing first, and it will be a true chase to the finish. As the name states, the race will take place on the well esablished Backpack Trail, at East Fork Lake State Park. The 5.4 mile course is densely wooded, and might give runners the feeling that they are on the Appalachian Trail.
