Racing to Read 5K Run/Walk WHAT: 5K (3.1 miles) Run/Walk. BENEFIARY: Proceeds benefit early childhood literacy efforts. WHEN: Saturday, June 9, 2012 9:00 a.m. WHERE: Gateway Community & Technical College, Covington, KY (across from the Covington Library). COURSE: Accurate 5K (3.1 miles) course beginning and ending at Gateway Community & Technical College and winds through Covington, KY. CHIP TIMING: This year's race will be timed with Ipico shoe tags (chips). All Times will be read electronically. You do not have to have a tag to participate but you must have a tag to receive a time. To receive a time, you must attach shoe tag to your shoe. Click here to see photo of properly attached shoe tag. No tag, no time! Shoe tags will be distributed on race-day only. Tags are re-useable and will be collected at the finish line. If you are given a tag, you agree to return it.
RUN DIVISIONS: 14/under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70/over. WALK DIVISIONS: 29/under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70/over. (Walkers must not run any portion of the course). AWARDS: Top three male and female runners and walkers. Age group awards to the winners in each run/walk division. Top three in Stroller division. Prizes from Better Bodies, Silverlake the Family Place, Road ID, Bob Roncker's Running Spot, and more! AWARDS CEREMONY: Immediately following the Race. PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Free pancakes courtesy of First Watch. T-SHIRTS: T-shirts are included. Pre-register to be guaranteed a shirt. EMAIL ADDRESS: All Pre-registered entries that include a valid email address will receive an email confirmation of registration prior to the race and will receive their individual results via email. PRE-REGISTRATION FEE: $20 includes a T-shirt (while supplies last) and pancake breakfast. RACE DAY REGISTRATION FEE: $25 including a T-shirt (while supplies last) and pancake breakfast. Timing chips will be distributed on Race Day only. Gateway closes at 5:00 pm.
