3nd Annual St. Patrick's Day "Run for the Green" 5K Trail Run/Walk

Saturday, March 14, 2009 9:00 a.m.

Start out your St. Patrick's Day Week with a hardy workout. Course consists of approximately 3.1 miles of mostly densely wooded, winding dirt/mud trails within Landen/Deerfield Park. Elevation changes of up to 50 feet with two calf-deep creek crossings. This race is in conjunction with the 2009 Dirt Days Trail Series.

New for 2009: This race is now part of the Running Spot Dirt Days Trail Series. The race will count as a points qualifier for the series. If you are interested in participating in the Dirt Days Trail series or would like more information about the series, see link below.

Update 3/1/09 - This year, we plan on assembling closer to the restrooms. We may have a tent with some heaters! Stay tuned.

Update 3/10/09 - Online Registration Deadline is 11:59 pm on Thursday. There is no early packet pickup. Pick up your number on race day.

Update 3/12/09 - Course has been altered slightly to reflect a change in registration area (closer to restrooms). Distance will be a little longer this year. Updated Course map.

Landen/Deerfield Park is located on US route 22/3 (Montgomery Road) Between Columbia Road and the Little Miami River. Park is on the left with white fences along the frontage.
Distance
Approximately 5 Kilometers (a little over 3 miles). This course is a little different than in 2008 since we are starting a little closer to the restrooms (Yeah!). Approximate distance is about 3.25 miles or a little longer. Click here to view the updated course map.
Description

Start out your St. Patrick's Day Week with a hardy workout. Course consists of 3.1 miles of mostly densely wooded, winding dirt/mud trails within Landen/Deerfield Park. Elevation changes of up to 50 feet with two calf-deep creek crossings. Starbucks coffee, Bruegger's Bagels, Water from Sonic, Cash awards and Random Door Prizes. In addition, we will be giving away three pairs of shoes courtesy of The Running Spot (see awards below). This race is in conjunction with the 2009 Dirt Days Trail Series.

Divisions

Run - Men & Women: 14/under, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70/over.

Walk - Men & Women 29/under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60/over

Awards

Awards: Cash Prizes will be awarded to the top three (3) Men and Women overall finishers: 1st - $75; 2nd - $50; 3rd - $25. Medals will be awarded to the top 15% of each run age and walk age group (based on pre-registration). Awards presented immediately following the race/walk. FREE SHOES! Top male and Female will receive a pair of trail shoes courtesy of The Running Spot. In addition, one pair of shoes will be given as a random door prize courtesy of The Running Spot . There will be other door prizes as well including two $50 gift cards to any of The Running Spot stores.

After the Race/Extras

Awards Ceremony following the race. Refreshments will be provided by Starbucks, Brueggers Bagels, Sonic, Whole Foods and Meijer.

Wellington Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine will have therapists on site after each of the Dirt Days events to attend to your needs. (We know you all need your head examined, but that is not what they are all about!)

Dirt Days Trail Series New for 2009 - The Run for the Green is now part of the Dirt Days Trail Series. This is a unique series of trail events in the Greater Cincinnati area. It includes combining your performances in three of the five events (East Fork Backpack Trail Run is required to be one of the three) to see who are the Dirtiest Dozen men and women. Bob Roncker's Running Spot is happy to put on these slightly different events for the local running community. Run one race or sign up for the series and run them all! There is no early packet pick up for this race. Late registration and packet pick up will take place on race day.

Race day registration and number pick up: Begins at 7:30 am. $15 per person ($12 T-shirts while supplies last).
